[dropcap]W[/dropcap]hen you’ve seen your favorite band ten, twenty, or even beyond forty times live, words cannot quite express how much they mean to you.

It’s not that you’re at a loss or there’s nothing new to report; set lists change and expand, the crowd increases by dozens and then hundreds – if not thousands, eventually – and you’re literally watching the band mature and grow like you would your own child. It becomes an all encompassing experience that you can’t help but burst with pride over.

Watching them go from dive bars to small clubs to large venues and then rock festivals…if you’re a big enough fan and that invested, it can literally bring tears to your eyes. Joyful tears, mind you.

That sensation, it can be difficult to capture in writing sometimes, but you’ll give it your best shot.

So when your favorite band has started to ride a huge wave of success and has spent the better part of the year touring not just the United States, but the entire world over, a return to a club can feel like a homecoming of sorts; familiar faces, places, and an overall nostalgic feeling, which is something most everyone loves. Especially on a Friday night, when the weekend is upon you and you’re looking to unwind from the hectic day-to-day that is life. It can also make things a little easier to describe.

This past Friday night saw two Machine Shop favorites, Otherwise and Like a Storm, roll through as part of the Brother In Arms tour. Brought along for the ride First Decree, a very solid rock (maybe even alt metal)  band out of Cheyenne, Wyoming who were seriously channeling their inner Sevendust, and Seasons After, a good ol’ fashioned hard rock band coming out of Wichita with a killer cover of “Cry Little Sister”. Dean and Sam Winchester would be damn proud of these Kansas natives. (Okay, okay, those guys are from Lawrence and are fictional, but still!)

Since the last time I wrote about my Kiwis, they’ve quite literally won fans the world over. Besides touring Europe with Black Veil Brides, they got to work the major rock festival circuit this year, having played several festivals in the States during the World’s Loudest Month, and also some of the biggest festivals overseas, such as Graspop and Download – to name a few things that have gone down on their agenda.

This round saw a majority of their latest album, Awaken the Fire, performed as they opened with “Chaos”, which made me excited since I had yet to see that live as the official opener. “Wish You Hell” and “Become the Enemy” have torn up the charts since being released as singles, the latter being recently, currently sitting in the 23rd spot on the US Rock charts. And honestly, it’s not a Like a Storm show unless we get their version of “T.N.T.” performed with the entire crowd chanting along.

November 6th sees the boys actually headlining a show at The Machine Shop, alongside From Ashes to New and Failure Anthem. Now, I can’t say for certain that the show will sell out. But, I can say that tickets should go fast, as it wouldn’t be the first time, if it did. So just take my word for it and get the lead out on getting a pair and making sure you’re actually there.
