[dropcap]I[/dropcap]dentity, a new thirteen-episode Christian-themed documentary miniseries, is debuting on multiple cable channels later this Summer, including ABC Family (home to The 700 Club), Lifetime, Discovery, and others. Some are evangelical networks, such as The Word Network and and INSP.

This is no coincidence; the series is produced by City of Peace Films in conjunction with Gray Media and Incite Media, with the intent of promoting the studio’s upcoming feature, The Identical, starring Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd.

The Identical centers around the son (played by a fresh, young actor, Blake Rayne) of a pastor (Liotta) who wants to break from the family business and become a musician.

Religious themes in the film will be implicit compared to Identity, according to City of Peace president and CEO Yochanan Marcellino.

“The Identical is not religious,” said Marcellino. “It was always imagined to be a movie both for the masses and for Christians.”

Identity’s Christian elements, on the other hand, will be less subtle; and, consequently, the series will largely stand on its own, addressing modern audiences and age-old questions with a biblical worldview.

“Our IDENTITY SERIES brings relevancy to the modern churchgoer by elevating the movie’s core truth, that Jesus Christ alone can answer the question we all ask ourselves: Who am I and what am I here for?” Marcellino said.

To answer that question, producers enlisted numerous Christian leaders and thinkers from around the world, including Lee Strobel, for the program to talk about identity, and what it means to live in Christ.

Strobel explained. “Once we understand our identity, it’s natural for us to want to talk with others about what God has done in our life. I call this ‘the unexpected adventure,’ because you never know what opportunity might come up to have a spiritual conversation that could change someone’s life and eternity. I hope my segment encourages and equips people for these kinds of interactions,” he said.

Marcellino and his partners are also reaching out to congregations to stream episodes at churches, and buy group tickets to The Identical.

Tickets, air dates, and more can be found at www.theidentityseries.com.

Identity will premiere on August 1st and run until September 5th, when The Identical hits theaters.
